50 Years of paper innovation

For half a century, Arctic Paper Grycksbo, located in the heart of Dalarna, Sweden, has been producing G-Print. This wood-free coated paper quickly became a global success after its launch in 1975 and is now recognized as an icon in the premium paper segment.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary, Arctic Paper will open the Grycksbo mill to the community for a special event in May 2025. Celebrations will continue throughout the year at the mill.

A Year of Celebrations Featuring the Iconic Dala Horse

The anniversary campaign will prominently feature G-Print’s signature symbol – the Dala Horse. This unmistakable silhouette will be reimagined with new designs that reflect significant events and technological breakthroughs over the six decades since G-Print was first produced. A series of 3D-animated horses, crafted from various materials, will showcase the paper's unique ability to reproduce images and text with exceptional clarity.

A Versatile Premium Paper

G-Print is renowned for its exceptional print performance, making it the go-to choice for high-end printing projects. This wood-free coated paper features a matte surface, smooth texture, and excellent stiffness, ensuring superior runnability. Available in a wide range of grammages, G-Print is perfect for luxury magazines, books, brochures, catalogs, posters, and direct mail.

Jaana Ahlroos, Product Manager at Arctic Paper Grycksbo Remains confident in the future of premium paper products, despite the growing dominance of digital media.

“High-quality fine paper that offers excellent runnability and image reproduction will always be in demand. G-Print combines unique qualities that are hard to replicate, placing it in a league of its own,”
she explains.

And regardless of G-Print's success in the world, the paper will never lose its origins:

“No matter how far G-Print reaches, it will always stay true to its heritage. Every sheet of G-Print reflects the craftsmanship, passion, quality, and tradition of Grycksbo, bringing a touch of Dalarna to the world. It is fantastic to be a part of this,”
says Jaana Ahlroos.

Leading in Environmental Responsibility

Arctic Paper Grycksbo has long been recognized for its commitment to sustainability. In 2009, the mill installed its own biofuel boiler, setting a new standard for environmental responsibility.

“We were ahead of our time, long before the climate crisis became the urgent issue it is today. The biofuel boiler gave us flexibility in energy sourcing, eliminated our dependency on oil and enabling us to produce part of our need for electricity ourselves. This reduced our carbon footprint from paper production to practically zero.”

Ahlroos notes.

Today, Arctic Paper Grycksbo is moving towards complete energy self-sufficiency with the construction of the Biofuel Plant -25. Once completed, paper production at the mill will be entirely climate neutral.
